[mp3] Thurston Moore – “Benediction”

Wow, is it just me or is “Benediction”, the first track to surface from the ageless Thurston Moore’s upcoming Beck-produced LP Demolished Thoughts a) truly beautiful, b) uncharacteristically intimate and straightforward, and c) really reminiscent of Neil Young circa On the Beach (I’m thinking Side B, like “Motion Pictures” or “Ambulance Blues”)?  Yeah.  Any way you cut it, it’s certainly a change of pace from Sonic Youth’s wall of guitar noise and detached NYC cool and could signal an extremely promising return for Moore to his solo work.  Demolished Thoughts drops May 24 through Matador.
