[mp3] The Wrens – “As I’ve Known”

It’s been a long ass time since we’ve heard new music from The Wrens.  The Jersey band’s last effort was 2003’s epochal The Meadowlands, one of the indie-world’s quintessential masterpieces.  There’s no official word as of yet on the long awaited follow up, which according to occasional rumors has been in the works for over two years, but today a new Wrens tune surfaced over on Epitonic and comes from me to you via Stereogum’ s post.  “As I’ve Known” is an at once chiming and murky ballad with a slow fade in and typically buried melodies.  Throw in a layer or two of fuzz over the whole thing for good measure.  Does it mean we’re getting close to Album #4?  Who knows, but for now, I’ll take it.
