I don’t know much about Austin, TX three-piece Love Inks just yet, but I do know that their self-recorded debut single “Blackeye” comes exactly as advertised – it’s a super catchy pre-Spring jam. The band plays easy, breezy, beautiful indie-pop, and there’s an ever so slight (and plenty charming) twang in singer Sherry Leblanc’s up front vocals. Her voice reminds me quite a bit of Shannon McArdle of the now defunct Mendoza Line, and that’s a very good thing. “Blackeye” will eventually be a part of Love Inks’ debut E.S.P. coming this May and the band has a handful of SXSW shows as well. Check the dates here.
